You may have heard this before: only unintelligent people would believe in a God. You may have also thought that in order to become a Christian you must check your brain at the door. This is often referred to as “blind faith”. But is this true? Are people who believe in God unintelligent or choosing to not use their intelligence?
History says otherwise.
In fact, Christians are in good company.
This company includes some of the most significant figures in history – scientists, poets, politicians, musicians, artists – people who have contributed greatly to society, and credit God for the strength and intellect they needed to do so.
In this short video Eric Metaxas highlights some of these individuals.
So the next time someone suggests that in order to be a Christian you have to sacrifice your intellect, remember that this is false. Many people have gone before you who believed in God and used the mind he gave them to change the world.
Whether you are a Christian or are in the process of seeking the truth, be encouraged. God gave you your intellect and wants you to use it to bring him glory.
