The fourth credential: resurrection from the dead. Everyone in the ancient world agrees that the tomb of Christ was empty. There were 515 eye witnesses to the resurrected Christ. The disciples knew for a fact that the resurrection was true. They touched him, they spoke with him, and they ate with him.
First Corinthians 15, affirms the resurrection, names specific eyewitnesses, including skeptics and is dated as early as 24 months after the event. It would be unprecedented anywhere in the history of the world for legend to grow up that quickly and wipe out a solid core of historical truth.
Strobel concludes with a quote from a former skeptic, like himself, of the resurrection accounts. Sir Lionel Luckoo, according to the Guinness Book of Records, was the greatest attorney who ever lived. After reviewing the evidence, his conclusion was:
“I say unequivocally that the evidence for the resurrection of Jesus Christ is so overwhelming that it compels acceptance by proof which leaves absolutely no room for doubt.”
